About

Since it's establishment in 1970, the Social Democratic & Labour Party (SDLP) have fought for peace, an agreed Ireland and equality of opportunity for all of Northern Ireland's citizens.

The North Down Branch of the party has existed for many years and have contested elections in the constituency since 1973, with Patrick McHenry first standing as the party's candidate on 28 June 1973 for the Falkner / Fitt "Sunningdale" Assembly.

Following on from many years of change and the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998, the party stands ready to contest the forthcoming Westminster and Local Government Elections in 2005.
